Colleen's World
Plein Air at Colleen’s on a fabulous spring day off Springhill Rd. I think there was about 8 artists for the first paintout of this season. A most welcoming venue with so many points of interest. I chose the majestic Bridger Mountains with Ross Peak an easily identifiable landmark. This property once housed The Decker School, closed in the late 1930’s. The horse barn is the last of the structures on this land, and will soon be gone. Garden flowers blooming, an apple tree that was caught in a frost this year diminishing its blooms, yet lovely all the same Aspens and pine trees, and heart rocks. Special time shared!

11”X60” Crepe de Chine Silk
On this glorious, almost summer morning, at this beautiful home marvelously landscaped with vistas overlooking the Absoroka Mountains~ still snow capped, majestic and beckoning. I found myself setup under a small precious Aspen grove, protected from the sun. The shadows of leaves danced and flashed marvelous patterns onto my silk. And so this painting designed itself. Most enjoyable to tune into natures whimsy. I did put a hint of the mountains into it, since they certainly fit the criteria of Plein Air |
Le Petit Chateau
This peaceful morning 10 artists quickly spread out to explore this enchanting venue. Magnificent trees, mature gardens, a fabulous tiered water fountain, the Chateau, of course, fast running Middle Cottonwood Creek, and then the vast views of mountains and sky. Old Montana preserved! For me, this day, it was this one shaded garden nestled in between the tall trees. A small waterfall, the gently flowing spring waters quenching the flowerbeds and kissing its rocky edges as it flows under The newly built stone bridge which reflects the style and coloring of the Chateau so beautifully.

Gallatin River's Journey
We are so blessed here in Montana to be witness to the confluence of our 3 rivers creating the Headwaters of the majestic Missouri River. On the banks Of the Gallatin River, Three or four artists and I painted under the protective shade of this grand old tree. The day was warm, and the gentle breezes caressed me. The trains clatter by, as the Gallatin River flowed on to rendezvous with the Madison and Jefferson Rivers about a half mile around next bend. Lots of sun and cool water and grasses.

Our Inner Rainbow
Within us all energy spirals in rainbow colors, alive and vibrant. It’s no wonder we are so drawn to the transparent bands of colored light we find arcing across our rain freshened skies.
Rainbows often symbolize~Blessings, Diversity, Inclusiveness, Magic, Joy, Optimism, and Inspiration. I find these ascending colors irresistible to wear, and then hang it vertically to align with your own body and feel the connection. |
Don's Amazing Irises
We just had to return to Don’s lovely expansive iris gardens. Sun shining, and we were there for the peak of spring blooming. The wind was blowing in gusts and strengthening as the morning progressed. I had my silk taped and weighted down as best as I could. I wanted to catch the essence of these lovely,~too short lived flowers. All colors and varieties. literally 1,000’s. Don has flowers that were part of his grandmother’s gardens. He keeps accurate records of each bulb. I decided to make this piece simple and designed it to wear for almost any occasion. Thank You Don!
